Case Study: LNG Audit and System Support, Australia
Our client, an oil and gas major based in Australia, has multiple assets worldwide including a large gas plant with condensate, LNG and LPG systems in their home country
The Challenge
LNG measurement uncertainty and sampling.
Kelton were contracted to provide an assessment of Condensate, LNG, and LPG tank measurement, along with LNG product quality sampling and analysis systems.
Kelton historically would have executed similar work scopes in-situ and has done so globally. But due to the travel restrictions from COVID-19, this challenge required a different approach.
The Solution
An agile team and a thorough audit.
Utilising the latest in connected and remote technologies, and by working with an in-country partners, Kelton was able to adapt to the restrictions and provide a full assessment to support their client’s needs.
Fully connected, Kelton’s measurement consultant, based in Aberdeen, was able to guide their in-country colleague through the correct assessment requirements and log all relevant details – informing of actions along the way.
Not only did this provide a full and thorough assessment, the combination of a local partner and Kelton’s expertise from a remote base meant that the deployment was faster and more cost efficient versus an in-situ audit.
The Result
Enhanced performance and reduced risk.
Kelton were able to fully assess the LNG sampling system and its adherence to the GII GNL guidance document and international standards and, in doing so, were able to make recommendations to improve the performance of the entire system – including for the condensate and LPG tank measurement.
This, in turn, will assist in reducing the risk of potentially expensive commercial exposure associated with LNG sampling issues.
